While many folks were recovering from a late night, a group of 10 shotgun enthusiasts showed up at 10:00 in the morning for the Algoma Rod and Gun annual New Year’s Day shoot. There were a few glimpses of sun, but for the most part, shooters had to contend with cloudy and snowy conditions, as seen in the photo gallery.
The friendly match saw some impressive scores, but the event was all about fun and celebrating the coming New Year. Being a first time skeet shooter I was lucky to have Sean give me the “Reader’s Digest” version of how skeet works, as well as supply some valuable tips. After the shooting was done, we were treated to a very tasty chili lunch which was a terrific way to get warmed up. Thanks to Suzanne for her efforts in putting lunch together.

Given the tie between Bill and Sean after two rounds, a tie breaking round was held which (if I heard correctly) was won by Sean with a very impressive 23 of 25.
Winter skeet league gets underway this Sunday. There is no league fee required for winter skeet. Rounds are $5 each and includes range fees.
Special thanks to Eric for organizing and running the event as well as the scorekeepers and all who helped out.
