Now that the weather has improved and Gunn Lake has receded, there are a couple of activities that are about to get underway.
Benchrest
Benchrest shooting is going to be getting officially underway Thursday, May 26th. Most shooters are using .22 rimfire rifles but centerfire rifle shooters are welcome too. This year we will have more types of targets available so whether you have open sights, aperture sights or some type of optic, come on out to Range 6. Targets can be shot at 25, 50 and 100m. Shoot for score or group size. All are welcome.
Things usually get rolling in early evening, around 6:00 – 6:30. Some shooters start earlier, if their schedules allow. If you want to compete for score you can do that or you can shoot casually. There’s often a mix of new and experienced shooters on hand and lots to be learned about precision shooting. Official USBR rimfire targets for 25 or 50m are $1 each.
Eye and ear protection are required. Hope to see you there!
Sporting Clays
David advises that the official start date for Sporting Clays is Wednesday, May 18th. The start time is going to be moved ahead to 4:00 pm to accommodate those shooters who are able to arrive earlier. If you arrive later that is no problem, as Sporting Clays usually runs until everyone has shot their rounds. Please note that the 100m rifle range (Range 6) is closed while Sporting Clays is underway. See the articles in the Shotgun section or contact David Stokes for more information.
