The Michipicoten Rod & Gun Club in Wawa is holding their 26th Annual Blackfly Shoot again this year and we are looking forward to having a solid representation from ARGC again this year. If you are interested in joining an existing team or want to form one of your own contact Mark Donner or Jane Perry.
This friendly competition will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2016 and will consist of 5 person teams using shotguns, handguns, .22 calibre rifles, and black powder or centre fire rifles. The shoot will start at 10:00 A.M. at the club range on Highway 17 west of Wawa. Registrations for only the first 10 paid teams will be accepted, and paid registrations must be received no later than May 20th. Entry fees are the same as last year, $200.00 per team, and prizes, refreshments and lunch will be provided. Raffle tables will be set up for draws, so bring your lucky charms when buying tickets! We will follow last year’s format . The match is set up as follows: 1.) Five shot – 25 yard . 22 rifle swinging target. This is a 20 second timed event and targets are mounted on pendulum type swingers. 2.) Five shot 100 yard target centre fire or black powder (any calibre, scopes and peep sights are permitted). All shooting will be done from a standing position. 3.) Five shot ground hog shoot using handguns (any calibre, any type of sights). This event consists of shooting wooden ground hogs from 20 – 50 yards using your handgun. 4.) Fur and Feather: At the rabbit run, as soon as you shoot at the rabbit, a clay bird will be launched along the run at about eye level – so you will need something to get two fast shots off with! Each shooter will have five chances at this event so you will need 10 shells. In order to minimize delays, teams MUST come fully equipped and prepared to shoot when their team is on the shooting line. All team members MUST be completely familiar with the type of firearms that they will be using. If you have any questions regarding the shoot, please contact Murray Davidson (H 856 4434 or C 705 856 5894). 2017 will add an archery category with one of the 100 yard centre fire slots becoming a 50 yard bow shoot.
